Project location: Shopping mall de Gaard, Utrecht, 2019/2020
Shoppingmall de Gaard in Utrecht has been in renovation since a long time. This led to feelings of frustration by the shopkeepers and visitors. I was asked to use the situation of renovation to finish the renovations on a positive note.
With a bit of help I transformed one of the empty store premises into the homebase of winter related activities. The goal was to make sustainable winter related decorations that would reflect the neighborhood. All the main construction materials where all leftovers from the renovation.
Toghether with local children, neigbours and the shop owners we managed to create a fun winter atmosfere. All generations where involved in the process by donating materials, sharing good ideas, doing some arts and crafts, and also by helping me do the heavy lifting!
